Dear CHSS Colleague:
As we enter the Spring season, I send warm wishes to you, your families and colleagues on behalf of the Congenital Heart Surgeons Society! Your CHSS Executive Council has been working hard since our Annual Meeting in Chicago last fall.
Our 2019 Annual Meeting will return to the Loews Chicago O'Hare from October 27 to 28, 2019, and the Abstract Submission site is now open. We encourage you to submit your best congenital papers and videos for consideration.
Registration and Housing are also open, and as the Loews is very busy in the fall, please make your housing reservations as soon as possible. We were sold out last year and anticipate the same for 2019. And while complimentary registration is a benefit of your membership in our Society, it is important that you register, so that we have an accurate count of our attendees.
I also want to let you know that at the end of this week, you will be receiving a very important survey from the CHSS, and I ask that every CHSS member take the time to complete it. The focus of the survey is the STS Congenital Database; questions range from analytics to public reporting. The STS has asked the CHSS to provide information to them as the analytics of the Database are being re-examined. Your CHSS Executive Council is committed to ensuring that all of our members have a voice in the process. Once we have the survey results, our Executive Council will review these at our upcoming AATS meeting to be held on May 5th in Toronto. Please watch for the survey from CHSS under separate cover before the end of March. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of you filling out this survey.
This is a reminder about our next CHSS Data Center Work Weekend. The next Work Weekend will be held April 12-14, 2019, at the Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning in Toronto. More details will be available shortly, so please watch our CHSS homepage for further updates and registration information.
The CHSS is continuing to look at its overall role as the leader in congenital heart surgery, and we have a Strategic Planning Retreat taking place in July, at which our leadership and Past Presidents will meet with a facilitator and establish a series of short, interim and long term goals for our Society.
I am honored to serve as the CHSS President as we move forward in this exciting time for congenital heart surgery. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me at any time with your thoughts regarding our organization. You can write directly to the CHSS at firstname.lastname@example.org.
